Ekiti State Police Command has announced a lineup of activities to commemorate the 2026 National Police Day, with programmes scheduled to run from March 30 to April 7 in Ado-Ekiti.
According to a statement made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti by SP ABUTU Sunday, the Police Public Relations, hinted that the Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye Michael, disclosed that the week-long event is designed to strengthen police-community relations and promoting public safety awareness.
The statement noted that the celebration will commence on Monday, March 30, with environmental sanitation and a free medical outreach at Oja Oba, in front of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti Palace, beginning from 7:00 a.m. On Tuesday, March 31, with a walkathon starting from the Police Headquarters on Old Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti, also at 7:00 a.m.
On Wednesday, April 1, the Command will host a public sensitization programme at the Police Officers’ Mess Auditorium, Okesa, focusing on electoral violence, drug abuse, cultism, and safe driving. The session is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
The fourth day, Thursday, April 2, will be dedicated to honouring fallen police officers, alongside the presentation of cheques to their families. The event will take place at the Police Headquarters, Old Iyin Road, Ado-Ekiti, at 10:00 a.m.
CP Michael added that the grand finale of the National Police Day celebration will hold on April 7 at Eagle Square, Abuja, featuring ceremonial parades and tactical displays. He urged residents of Ekiti State to continue to support and cooperate with the police, while encouraging them to actively participate in the scheduled activities, particularly the free medical outreach and public sensitization programmes.
