Residents of Ekiti state from the sixteen local governments trooped out enmass on Monday, 28 July to endorse president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for second term in office.
Ekiti parapo pavilion, the venue of the endorsement witnessed unprecedented crowd as the three senators representing the state in the national assembly, six House of Representatives members, Ekiti state house of Assembly members, three former governors of the state, All progressive party leaders; former and present, including the National leaders of the party represented by the national Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru including the governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa were on ground to endorse the President and governor Oyebanji.
In his speech, the former Deputy Governor of the state and the chairman of the endorsement Committee , Surveyor Abiodun Aluko, said the duo, president Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji have represented the masses well via their programmes and policies that have positive impacts on the people, while soliciting support for the duo, Surv. Aluko said one good term deserves another.
The senate leader, Senator OPEYEMI Michael Bamidele moved motion for the endorsement of president Tinubu for second term while Hon Femi Bamisile seconded the motion. Also the speaker of the Ekiti state house of Assembly, RT Hon Adeoye Aribasoye moved motion for the endorsement of Governor Oyebanji for second term as the Deputy speaker, RT Hon Bolaji Egbeyemi- Olagbaju seconded the motion .
In their separate goodwill messages, Former Governors: Adeniyi Adebayo, Peter Ayodele Fayose and Segun Oni applauded the president and Governor Oyebanji for their unwavering commitments and dedication to transforming Nigeria and Ekiti state . Also, the senate leader, Senator OPEYEMI Michael Bamidele enjoined Nigerians, especially Ekiti people not to be deceived by the coalition to join African Democratic Party, urged residents to stick to the Progressive party .
Accepting the statewide endorsement, Gov Oyebanji said he and his Deputy, Chief Monisade Afuye had accepted to continue their good works while assuring Ekiti residents more transformative programmes, the governor highlighted some of his achievements to include: construction/ reconstruction of roads, renovation of over one hundred heath facilities across the state, employment, prioritizing welfare of workers and pensioners among others .
The rank of All Progressives Congress swelled as a former PDP minority leader, Senator Biodun Olujimi , Barrister Obafemi Adewale and the only SDP house member in Ekiti formerly joined APC.
