The Executive Chairman of Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Prof. Femi Akinwumi, has been inducted into the Southwest Achievers’ Hall of Fame 2025, receiving the esteemed Champion Award in Education Development.
The award, presented by PATH NEWS MAGAZINE, recognizes Prof. Akinwumi’s outstanding contributions to education and his tireless efforts in shaping the future of Southwest Nigeria.
While reading his citation, the organizers described him as a dedicated educationist who has demonstrated unwavering commitment to the development of education in the region.


It was noted that the Executive Chairman’s achievements and dedication to education have earned him this prestigious recognition, solidifying his position as a leader in education development.
The organizers stated that , Prof. Akinwumi’s induction into the Southwest Achievers’ Hall of Fame is a testament to his tireless efforts in promoting education and his contributions to humanity.
It was also mentioned that the award was a celebration of his life and work, with notable dignitaries, colleagues, and well-wishers in attendance.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Akinwumi said that he was humbled and grateful to receive the prestigious award.
Akinwumi also said that he was accepting the honour on behalf of all the educators, students, and communities he has had the privilege to serve.

Prof. Akinwumi dedicated the award to the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji and his wife, Prof. Olayemi Oyebanji for the opportunity they have given him to showcase his experience and talent in shaping the basic education sector.
