The Ekiti State government with support from UNICEF has organised a one-day 2024 health sector annual review scorecard dissemination meeting .
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services Dr Oyebanji Filani stated that the main objective of the meeting is to disseminate the scorecard developed from an in-depth review of the state’s health sector data, highlight the sector’s performance and opportunities for improving health outcomes.
Dr Filani emphasized the importance of garnering support from stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives for the state and its residents.
The Commissioner appreciated stakeholders for their commitment to delivering quality healthcare services and charged them to continue striving to save more lives from preventable deaths.
The UNICEF South-West Health Specialist, Dr Ijeoma Agbo commended Ekiti state government for creating a healthy environment that guarantees quality healthcare service delivery.
Dr Agbo who noted that the state had made significant progress as evidenced by the health indicators therefore urged the Government and stakeholders to sustain the success .
In her opening remarks the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health Mrs Olusola Gbenga- Igotun stated that the exercise would help identify areas of strength and weakness as well as finding solutions to challenges.
The Chairmen of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency and Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Funke Ogunbunmi and Dr. Austine Ibikunle, respectively, along with other stakeholders, commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his numerous interventions that have transformed the sector noting that those initiatives have significantly improved healthcare services for Ekiti residents
