Ekiti State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing reforms that promote financial autonomy, strengthen fiscally discipline, enhance transparency and foster effective governance at the grassroots level.
This was made known by the Ekiti State Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon Oyeniyi Adebayo during the opening ceremony of a 3-day training workshop for local government executives, legislators and top management personnels in Ado Ekiti.
The Workshop which was organized by Ministry of Local Government Affairs in collaboration with Sunstone Place Management Consultants, focused on enhancing the financial autonomy and operational efficiency of local government institutions across the state.
While Declaring the workshop open, the governor emphasized that the workshop underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening governance at the local government level and enhancing service delivery to the people at the grassroots.
In his opening remarks, the State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Folorunsho Olabode urged participants to seize the opportunity provided by the workshop to reflect, learn and realign their strategies for greater impact and service delivery to the people at the grassroots
He commended the unwavering commitment of the governor in empowering local government to perform optimally without undue interference whose belief has been demonstrated through policies that prioritize fiscal decentralization ,participatory governance and institutional reform at the local Govt level.
In her goodwill message the Head of Service Dr. Folakemi Olomojobi who was represented by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Chieftancy and Home Affairs Mrs Olabisi Akindele said the Workshop came at a time when government are called upon to reimagine government structures,recalibrate fiscal frameworks and re- energies public institutions for more inclusiveness , efficient and sustainable development.
She promised to continue to champion reforms that would enhance efficiency, transparency and ethical service delivery in line with the six pillars of this administration.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria(ALGON), Ekiti state chapter, Hon Oluwasegun Ojo, who described local government chairmen as pivotal to the actualization of good governance and delivery of democratic dividends at the grassroots. He urged participants to make the most of the opportunity to sharpen their administration skills and deepen their understanding of sustainable community development.
Stakeholders at the Workshop included the Chairman Council of traditional rulers, Olojudo of Ido-Ekiti, Oba Ayorinde Faboro, Accountant General/PS Mrs Olariike Olayinka, Local government chairmen, permanent secretaries, and other top government officials.
