Engineer Femi Fagbemi on Wednesday formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 Oye/ Ikole Federal constituency 1, under All Progressives Congress as he visited his Aita Street in Ilupeju Ekiti, drawing massive support from residents.
The declaration turned the street into a carnival-like and spiritual gathering, with men, women, youths and the elderly offering prayers for divine guidance and success, asking God to make his aspiration fruitful and beneficial to Ilupeju Ekiti and entire constituency.

Residents who spoke at the gathering attested to the leadership qualities of Engineer Fagbemi, describing him as brave, knowledgeable, exposed, learned and homely. They noted that his integrity is not in doubt, adding that he is supportive, friendly and deeply committed to the welfare of his people.
Community members recalled his over six-year tenure as Youth President of Ilupeju Ekiti, during which he reportedly facilitated life-changing job opportunities for many youths and organised empowerment programmes for women and the aged. They assured him of their total support and called on all residents of Oye/Ikole Federal Constituency I to rally behind his ambition. According to them, supporting Engineer Fagbemi would help break the long-standing jinx of Ilupeju Ekiti not producing a representative at the National Assembly.
Overwhelmed by the show of love and solidarity, Engineer Fagbemi expressed deep appreciation to the people for their prayers and support, promising not to disappoint them if given the mandate.
He also used the occasion to canvass support for Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying both leaders mean well for the country and that their policies and programmes are laying the foundation for a new Nigeria.
High point of the event was distribution of branded caps in support of Governor Oyebanji’s re-election to residents of Ilupeju Ekiti.
