An aspirant for the Oye–Ikole Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections, Engineer Fagbemi Christopher Oluwafemi, has commended the developmental strides of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, across critical sectors of the state’s economy.
Engineer Fagbemi described the governor’s performance as impressive and deserving of continuity, urging residents of the state to rally behind the governor’s re-election bid in the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
Speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the aspirant noted that the administration of Governor Oyebanji has not only maintained peace and stability in the state but has also fostered unity among political leaders and stakeholders for the overall progress of Ekiti.
According to him, the governor’s humility and inclusive leadership style have helped in bringing together former governors, party leaders and other key stakeholders, thereby creating a conducive atmosphere for development and attracting meaningful interventions to the state.
He stressed that the progress currently being witnessed in Ekiti should not be truncated, adding that continuity in leadership would allow the ongoing developmental initiatives to be consolidated and expanded for the benefit of the people.
“One good term deserves another. The peace, unity and steady development we are witnessing under Governor Oyebanji should continue. I appeal to Ekiti residents to support his re-election so that the state can sustain this positive momentum,” Fagbemi said.
Speaking on his aspiration to represent Oye–Ikole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027, Fagbemi said the move was driven by his passion to contribute meaningfully to the development of his constituency and improve the welfare of his people.
He pointed out that Ilupeju-Ekiti, his hometown, has not had the opportunity to produce either a Senator or a member of the House of Representatives since the return to democratic rule in 1999, noting that other communities in the constituency have had the privilege of representation.

While emphasizing that his aspiration is not solely about his town, the engineer said he intends to provide inclusive and people-oriented representation that will benefit all communities within the constituency.Fagbemi outlined key areas of focus for his proposed legislative agenda to include qualitative education for students, skills acquisition programmes for youths, and empowerment initiatives that will promote self-reliance among young people.
He also pledged to facilitate employment opportunities for qualified graduates, while ensuring that the elderly, artisans, traders, market men and women are not left out in government empowerment and welfare programmes.
According to him, meaningful youth engagement remains critical to national development, stressing that when young people are properly supported and empowered, the nation will experience greater peace, stability and rapid development.
The House of Representatives hopeful further assured constituents that he would use the legislative platform to advocate policies and laws that would directly improve the living conditions of the masses.
Engineer Fagbemi, who currently serves as the President of Ilupeju-Ekiti Youth Development Association and also the National President of the Oye Local Government Youth Association, said he has consistently engaged with youths and community stakeholders on development initiatives. He maintained that his grassroots connection and long-standing involvement in community development would enable him to effectively represent the interests of the people if elected.
Fagbemi therefore called on residents of Oye–Ikole Federal Constituency and Ekiti State at large to support leaders who are committed to unity, development and the overall progress of the state.
