The Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has promised to commence the payment of outstanding salary deductions to various cooperative societies in the state public service.
The Governor disclosed in Ado Ekiti while playing host to the leadership of the state(NLC) Nigeria labour Congress, led by it’s chairman, Mr Kolapo olatunde.
Fayemi affirmed that his government would also implement the new minimum wage for workers on grade level 14 and above while the payment of promotion arrears for 2019and 2020 will be paid soon.
The governor blamed the delay in the payment of the cooperative deductions, promotion arrears and others on the none remittance of funds to the federation account by the NNPC in the last six months .
He said that government would continue to do everything possible within the available resources to address issues concerning the welfare and wellbeing of the workers, urging them to show understanding with government.
Dr Fayemi applauded the labour leaders industrial harmony between his government and the workers and as well enjoined them to extend such gesture to the in coming administration.
The NLC chairman, Mr olatunde on his remark, applauded the present administration’s prompt payment of salaries and other emoluments to workers. He however, called on government to fashion out modalities to defray the accumulated gratuities and remittance of outstanding salary deductions to cooperative societies.
