The Chief Medical Director, Federal Teaching Hospital (FETHI), Ido-Ekiti, Professor Kunle Ajayi, has said the institution would continue to give quality health care services to Nigerians.
The CMD said the teaching hospital had received national and international awards through its qualitative services in treating patients, training, re-training of medical practitioners and consulting services.
The CMD made the disclosure when the Representatives of ONLINE MEDIA chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists paid him a courtesy visit on Tuesday.
Prof. Kunle Ajayi said the purpose of the hospital was to give quality treatment to patients. Saying the institution had sufficient equipments and capable Medical personnel who could treat patients of their various ailments.
He commended the federal government for providing the institution with Medical equipments, infrastructures and personnels not for treatment alone but for training and research. Saying the facilities and personnels had helped medical Center Ido- Ekiti to successfully delivered on its mandate.
While promising that the institution is ready to improve in its services through effective collaboration and networking for better performance,
Prof. Ajayi said government alone can not provide all the things needed for the smooth running of the hospital, saying the management in their own wisdom in collaboration with the stakeholders forum recently came up with four initiatives that would enhance the services of the hospital.
According to the CMD, the initiatives are: Indigent patients Fund, ward initiatives, Hospital infrastructures Development and Capacity building initiatives.
While explaining the initiatives, the CMD noted that inability of many patients to pay hospital bills necessitated the indigents initiatives where staff, members of the public and philantropist pulled resources together to foot Medical bills of such patients.
He added that “Ward Initiative” eminent personalities visited the hospital and built wards and maintained them for efficient service delivery. Adding that hospital infrastructures Development, people donate equipments, structures and materials for the hospital use.
While explaining capacity building initiative, the CMD said the management and staff could be given advice or provide skills that could spur the management to perform excellently well.
He however called on Nigerians to fit into any of the initiative to further position the institution well.
While promising to partner with online media in Ekiti state, he enjoined them to always verify facts before publishing their stories and shun fake news . He appreciated the leadership for the visit and promised to partner with them.
Earlier, the Ekiti Online Chapel Chairman, Comrade Ayodele Abere said that the purpose of the visit is to familiarize the Online platform members with the establishment, as they remain the only avenue that can properly project activities of FMC, Ido Ekiti.

In his words, “The purpose of our visit is to familiarize ourselves with your establishment. Online has become an indispensable platform that we can’t do without.
“The Online medium is very fast, compared to Radio and Print. You can share the news and everybody will be able to read news about the Hospital, even in abroad.
“It’s the major platform that can project you well and we are ready to work with you.”
