The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ekiti State Sector Command, has commenced its 2026 Easter Special Patrol Operation aimed at ensuring safety on roads across the state during the festive period.
According to a press release issued by the Sector Public Education Officer, SRC Tajudeen A. Balogun, the exercise, which began on April 1, will run through April 8, 2026. The operation is in compliance with directives from the FRSC National Headquarters and is designed to enforce zero tolerance for traffic violations that could lead to road crashes.
To effectively monitor road use and enhance safety, the command has deployed a total of 735 regular and special marshals, alongside 13 patrol vehicles, two ambulances, and one tow truck across the state.
The statement noted that mobile court sittings would be activated where necessary to ensure swift administration of justice for traffic offenders. It also revealed that personnel have been strategically positioned at major traffic-prone areas and identified black spots to manage increased vehicular movement during the Easter celebrations.
Emergency response units, including designated help areas with ambulance services at Agbado and Omuo, have also been fully activated to handle emergencies promptly. The command added that it would sustain its public sensitization campaigns at motor parks and religious centres, while urging road users to utilize the FRSC toll-free line, 122, to report accidents, obstructions, and traffic congestion.
Sector Commander, CC Sanya Adeoye, appealed to motorists and other road users for continued cooperation, patience, and adherence to traffic regulations to ensure a safe Easter celebration.
The command extended warm Easter greetings to the public, urging all to embrace responsible road use for a safer and more fulfilling festive period.
