Following the approval by the Oyo State House of Assembly, Governor Seyi Makinde has sworn in Barrister Bayo Lawal as the new Deputy Governor of the state.
The lawmakers gave the approval on Monday afternoon after impeaching Rauf Olaniyan as the state’s Deputy Governor
While performing the swearing-in, Makinde charged the new deputy governor to serve the state diligently in his new capacity, stating that the new position was a shred of evidence that he excelled in his duty as the Chairman of the Housing Corporation of the state.
Makinde said: “The position is that of trust. Our masters are the people of Oyo State and our responsibility is to continue to serve them to the best of our abilities and deliver good governance to them.”
Before his appointment, Lawal was the Chairman of the State Housing Corporation.
Bayo Lawal, according to the governor, will continue to supervise the Housing Corporation, the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency, OYSTRMA.
The new Deputy Governor hails from Kisi in Irepo Local Government area of Oyo State.
Recall that Precise news online had earlier reported that the former deputy Governor, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan was impeached by the Oyo State House of Assembly by 23 out of the 32 members.
