Ekiti State Government through the Bureau of Community Communications has fulfilled the promise made to flood victims at Ekiti State University, EKSU, by distributing food items.
Recall that the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Monisade Afuye had visited the affected students and conducted an emergency inspection of the affected hostels while promising to stay in constant touch with the victims.
Donating the food items to the students in their hostels on Wednesday, Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Omotosho reiterated the unwavering commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to the welfare of the people.
She noted that the kind gesture of the state governor is aimed at fulfilling its promise and to sustain support in terms of distribution of food items, among others, while applauding the management of EKSU for also extending support to the affected students.
Her words: “We are here today to deliver the governor’s message. This is just a token from Mr. Governor to fulfill that promise. He is a compassionate governor that doesn’t joke with the welfare of his people. He is an exceptional politician and not a regular politician.”
Receiving the items on behalf of the university community, Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Olu Omotosho thanked the state governor for his magnanimity in providing succour and support to the students.
While describing Oyebanji as a trusted, reliable, dependable and compassionate governor, the Dean assured him of the university management readiness to support his administration at all times
“We just have to appreciate God Almighty for the kind of governor he has given to Ekiti State. When it happened then, it was so devastating. The students were so dejected and depressed but immediately he sent his deputy and prominent cabinet members to bring relief materials to the students and even promised to do more.
“With what he has done, definitely he is a governor that can be trusted, reliable, dependable and very compassionate. The university management appreciate the governor for this great gesture.” He said.
The State Government’s delegation was led by the DG, Bureau of Community Communications, including SSA Special Duties; Mrs Babatunde, SA Youth Development; Maxwell Olu Ajayi, State Chairman of NYC; Aare Tope Adedara, SA Governor’s Office; Mrs Toyin Tuase, SA Mobilization; Mrs Sade, State Chairman of NYCN; Segun Bankole, Chairman, Association of Ekiti Local Government Students Union, AELOGSU, Ogunlade Faith Kayode.
The delegation from the University management include; Head of Information and Corporate Affairs; Bode Olofinmuagun, Deputy Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Patrick Adeluyi; Heads of Students Associations, among others.
