A non-governmental organisation under the aegis of Temidara Precious King’s Empowerment Foundation in Ekiti State on Wednesday urged the people of the state to support Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s quest for a second term in office.
The group said the support will enable the governor to consolidate and continue his good works in the state for sustainable development.
Chairperson of the group, Mrs Folashade Ajayi stated this when the group presented Governor Oyebanji to the All Progressives Congress, APC, at the party’s state secretariat for consideration for second term in office.
She noted that under the administration of Oyebanji, “the state has witnessed commendable improvements in critical sectors such as education, agriculture, health, road infrastructure, human capital development, and civil service reforms.
“Governor Oyebanji has shown that leadership is not about showmanship, but about service, sacrifice, and results. He has kept faith with the people and is leading Ekiti with uncommon grace, ensuring that the State continues to earn its pride of place as the Fountain of Knowledge and a hub of responsible governance.”
The Chairperson equally noted that as a registered support group under the APC, drawn from the 16 local governments, they are committed to promoting good governance, encouraging youth and women participation and supporting grassroots development.
According to her, “we commit ourselves to playing our role in supporting developmental initiatives, sensitizing the public, and ensuring that truth, service, and unity remain our guiding principles more than ever before.”
Responding on behalf of Governor Oyebanji, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro commended the group for standing behind the re-election of the governor noting that this is a testament to his impactful leadership in the state.
According to the SSG, “You’ve gathered once again to appreciate the governor’s performance, acknowledging that he did not disappoint. We can all agree that the governor has made an impact across all areas of the state’s affairs. Now, you are here to show your support for his second term, and the coordinators have spoken about the support they’ve been receiving from the national level. I believe the governor will do even more in his second term.”
Also, Special Adviser on Political and Inter-Party Affairs, Jide Awe urged the group to remain steadfast in their support for the governor and not work against the interest of the party.
He said: “I hope you will remain firm in your decision to support the governor for a second term. From today, others may approach you for support, but I encourage you to give them the same response that your support is with BAO. You are not a political party, but you are party members and an important arm of the party. Please do not act against the party’s interest.”
The State Secretary of the APC, Sola Arogundade emphasized that the move by the group is necessitated by the achievements of Governor Oyebanji which speaks volume and stands him out as a performing governor.
According to him, “Election is all about the numbers and for them to come to us, it shows that they appreciate what the party is doing on one hand, and they equally appreciate what the governor is doing on one hand. The governor is acting as a driving force for mobilization of people to the party. From what they said, the noticed what the governor is doing and they happy with what he is doing.”
The event attracted top government functionaries including the representatives of the Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Stephen Aribasoye, Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Omotosho, among others and presentation of Awards of Excellence to Ekiti sons and daughters for their exemplary leadership qualities.
