Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, former Governor Kayode Fayemi, and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele have called on All Progressives Congress (APC) members in the state to unite and avoid complacency ahead of the party’s governorship primary slated for October 27, 2025.
At an expanded stakeholders’ meeting in Iyin-Ekiti, also attended by ex-Governor Adeniyi Adebayo, Oyebanji appealed for tolerance among supporters of different aspirants, stressing that dissent is a democratic right. He urged members to prioritise peace, saying continuity in governance is vital to the state’s progress.
Fayemi cautioned against overconfidence, reminding members that elections are won at the grassroots, not on social media. He pledged his full support for Oyebanji and the APC’s success in Ekiti.
Senate Leader Bamidele, speaking on behalf of National Assembly members, assured of their mobilisation efforts to secure Oyebanji’s return for a second term. He also called for unity to ensure victory in both the primaries and the 2026 election.
The meeting further reaffirmed support for President Bola Tinubu’s candidacy and endorsed Governor Oyebanji for re-election, with both motions ratified by voice vote.
