In line with the Six-Point Development Agenda of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, youths across the state have been empowered through a two-week intensive digital skills training programme aimed at positioning them for opportunities in the global digital economy.
The programme was facilitated by Hon. Ayodeji Adegbite, Member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly representing Ado-Ekiti Constituency 1, through Hon. Ayodeji Adegbite Foundation, in collaboration with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
A total of 80 youths drawn from the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State participated in the training, which focused on cutting-edge digital competencies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Big Data, Data Analysis and Data Visualization.
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Adegbite described the skills acquired by the participants as vital tools for innovation, job creation and sustainable economic growth. He noted that the programme aligns directly with the state government’s vision of human capital development, youth empowerment and shared prosperity.
To ensure sustainability and practical application of the knowledge gained, each participant was presented with a laptop, enabling continuous learning and hands-on engagement beyond the training period.
The beneficiaries are expected to serve as digital ambassadors, driving innovation, entrepreneurship and technology adoption within their various communities.
Observers have described the successful implementation of the programme as a further demonstration of Hon. Ayodeji Adegbite’s commitment to youth development and technology-driven progress in Ekiti State.
With this initiative, stakeholders believe that the foundation for a thriving artificial intelligence and digital economy ecosystem has been laid, positioning Ekiti youths to compete favourably and excel in the digital age.
