Determined to deepen grassroots politics and community development, Hon. The empowerment initiative was part of his educational support programme aimed at easing the burden of schooling on indigent families, presented over 1,100 textbooks — with 555 copies allocated to primary school students and 554 to secondary school students — alongside writing materials and school uniforms to vulnerable pupils across the constituency.
Beyond education, over 60 petty traders received cash relief, while handful numbers of farmers benefited from the distribution of agricultural inputs, including spray pumps, chemicals, and several bags of fertilizers, to boost food production and agricultural resilience in Oye Constituency 2.
Commercial motorcycle operators (Okada riders) were also not left out, as they were provided with free fuel to cushion the effect of high petrol prices and support their daily operations.

Speaking at the event, the Ekiti State Coordinator for the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Hon. Sunday Adunmo, commended Hon. Odebunmi’s initiative, described it as timely and impactful. He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items received and called on residents of the area to continue supporting Governor Biodun Oyebanji, whom he described as a “governor with a people-centered agenda.”
In his remarks, the Apeju of Ilupeju-Ekiti, HRM Oba Sunday Awe Akingbade, applauded the lawmaker’s gesture, noting that it aligned with the broader infrastructure and development agenda of Governor Oyebanji. He emphasized the need for politicians to fully implement and transmit the benefits of state policies and directives to the grassroots.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Odebunmi described the empowerment as his “modest way of giving back to the people” and reaffirmed his commitment to quality and inclusive representation. He urged those who have not yet benefited to remain patient, assuring them that everyone will be reached in due course.
“This is just a part of what we have planned. More support will come. I urge you all to stand solidly behind Governor Oyebanji and ensure his re-election come 2026,” he said.
Few of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude, offered prayers for Hon. Odebunmi’s continued political rise and success. They described the initiative as a lifeline during tough economic times and pledged their continued support for his leadership.
