The National president, Ilupeju Development Association, Elder Banji Ogungbemi has reiterated that the installation of solar lights and massive renovation/construction currently going on in the town for the kick- off of Federal University, Oye Ekiti, school of Nursing would not only make the town model to others but attract more developments.
He said where there are uninterrupted power supply, students would like to reside there; economic activities would thrive and insecurity would be curbed
Elder Banji Ogungbemi disclosed this on Thursday at Ilupeju Ekiti while Fielding questions from PRECISE NEWS. He said the installation of solar lights would be seen in all nooks and crannies of Ilupeju Ekiti.
According to (IDA) National President” The installation is in phases; the first phase is the one you have seen which starts from the boundaries of Ilupeju Ekiti at Oye axis to Itapa axis. The second phase will be from Eshinkun through Methodist Church down to Saint John’s Anglican Church, the third phase also will start from Eshinkun through Menara market to Odoko while the final phase would be carried out by streets and Quarters”
“Let me quickly add, the three phases will be executed without delay while streets/Quarters lights will be supervised to ensure that the template of IDA is not changed or reduced”
The National president who hinted that the two projects currently in progress are self projects of multi- million naira that required concerted efforts of all sons and daughters of the town, home and in the Diaspora for quick execution.
While appreciating the co-operation and contributions of Ilupejus towards the development of the town, the president added that the town would not rest on her oars until residents are provided with social amenities that would improve their standard of living for other towns to start taking cues from the town.
Speaking on the Federal University Oye Ekiti, School of Nursing situated in Ilupeju Ekiti, Elder Ogungbemi opined that the permanent site is along Ilupeju- Ire axis, saying ,the students would be using the facilities in Ilupeju Civic Hall and library temporarily. The president said, by the time we are done putting in place all the necessary facilities for the students, I am sure the Federal University, Oye Ekiti Authority would award more courses for us here.
On the spot assessment shown that the Civic Hall has been renovated, toilets and other structures have been erected for a seamless take off of studies.
Also, in an interview, the National president of Ilupeju Youth Development Association, Engineer Femi Fagbemi commended the IDA executives and those that had contributed to the two laudable projects going on in the town, he prayed God to strengthen and continually
bless them for making Ilupeju Ekiti a synoture of attraction.
While highlighting the benefits of the projects; the youth president said, “the uninterrupted solar lights would beautify the town, it would checkmate burgling of shops at night, not that alone, night social activities will commence and all these will increase influx of people in the town which will promote the economy of our town”
The president said the Ilupeju solar team that was trainned and sponsored by IDA executives in collaboration with some eminent persons in the town few months ago were doing the installation for the town at no cost under the supervision of the contractor handling the work.
He stressed further that 100 solar would be needed to complete the first phase which has gotten to Saint Mark Church, Ilupeju Ekiti as at Thursday. Adding, that for durability, the solar was erected at 30 meter distance instead of 50 meter.
On his part, the contractor handling the Solar installation, Engineer Tobi Ogunleye assured that the product, FECILITY installed had 10 -15 years durability with quality production.
Explaining the features of the solar, the contractor said the product was integrated industrial solar with 80 watts, 96 lumel, in-built batteries and panel liton iron that last for 12 – 15 years, saying it was one of the best products in Africa .
Speaking on how to maintain the solar, the contractor advised that concrete be casted round the base of each Pole to avoid been damaged by trucks/cars. Adding that trees around the solar should be cut so as not to cover the panel.
The co-ordinator of Ilupeju Solar Team, Engineer Adesoro Oluwaseun attested to the durability of Felicity solar panel installed, he said 30 meter distance from one pole to another would aid the brightness of the light.
Residents of the town were seen praising the facilitators of the solar lights as they discussed the benefits of the light.
Among those who spoke with PRECISE NEWS were; Ogundana Samuel who said it was a welcome development that signalled growth.
On her part, Mrs Kemisola Oni owns provision store opposite Catholic Church hinted that she would not be rushing home at night, she said “with these solars, I will be making high sales because travellers will patronize me. God will bless our leaders in Ilupeju Ekiti”
