The Executive Chairman of Ifeloju Local Council Development Area, Ilupeju Ekiti, Hon. Olusola Michael Oniyelu has congratulated the Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti, (HRM) Oba David Sunday Awe Akingbade, Apeju- in -Council, chiefs, sons and daughters of Ilupeju Ekiti on the occasion of 2024 ‘Igba’ festival.
The chairman who commended the monarch for not only promoting culture, but making it a tradition in Ilupeju Ekiti, said all the prayers the monarch offered concerning the subjects and the town would be accepted by God.
Reiterating his support for tradition in Ifeloju LCDA, Hon Olusola in a statement charged Yoruba leaders to do everything possible to uphold and promote culture and traditions as practised by Yoruba ‘forefathers’. He added that Yoruba is endowed with rich culture/ traditions which should not be allowed to go into extinction, advocating that it should be transferred to generations unborn.
Hon Olusola noted that Oba Akingbade celebrated the festival last year and the impacts aided peaceful coexistence and the subjects did well in their various careers. The council boss assured the people that this year’s prayers would have more positive impacts in the town and her inhabitants.
Recall, 22nd February every year is tagged ‘ODUN IGBA’ where Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti visits historic sites in the town to offer prayers for the well-being of the inhabitants of the town, peace and development of Ilupeju Ekiti.
