The Executive Chairman of Ifesowapo Local Council Development Area, Isan Ekiti, Hon Muyiwa Ajibola has empowered over five hundred farmers with farming tools.
Hon. Muyiwa who distributed sprayers, chemicals, cutlasses, fertilizers, maize and seedlings to farmers across the local Council on Thursday, reiterated the need to embark on farming to solve the problem of food shortage and high prices of food stuffs.
The chairman opined that farming is a lucrative profession which needs Government intervention to frontally combat food shortage.” No doubt, Isan Ekiti is an agrarian area, my people embark on farming in their little way but we need to expand the scope, that’s why I am empowering the farmers with modern tools so that farming would not only be easy for them but yield bumper harvest that would improve their standard of living ”
While advising the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the farming implements to crash hike price of foodstuffs in the market, Hon Muyiwa urged them not to sell the materials handed over to them.
The chairman stated that there were people who could not go into farming due to the age factor, he doled out cash worth millions of naira to the aged and widows in the Local Council Development Area, said he would continue to prioritize the welfare of residents of the LCDA.
Hon Muyiwa further stated that he would continue to monitor the effective usage of the farming tools to know areas to lend assistance to them. He urged youths to compliment their chosen careers with farming .
Recall, a few months ago, the chairman empowered artisans and market women.
Mr Awe Adewale, Mrs Onileola Iyabo and Chief Adugbole Motunrayo who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciated the Chairman for committing huge resources to empowering residents of Isan Ekiti. They prayed God to prosper his ways and elevate him. They promised to utilize the materials to ameliorate their sufferings.
