Parents, teachers and other critical stakeholders in the education sector have been urged to work collectively to curb examination malpractice and promote quality education in Nigeria.
The call was made by the National President of the Ifaki Grammar School Old Students Association (IGSOSA), Kunle Olofintuyi, during a courtesy visit to the Principal of Ifaki Grammar School, Ifaki-Ekiti, Adedayo Olaniyi.
Mr Olofintuyi, who led members of the newly inaugurated National Executive Council of IGSOSA, expressed concern over the growing rate of examination malpractice in Nigeria’s education system, stressing that old students must play a crucial role in repositioning and strengthening the sector.
The former General Manager of the State Emergency Management Agency also emphasised the need for a strong maintenance culture to ensure the sustainability of facilities provided by the alumni.
He used the visit to solicit broad-based support for the forthcoming 70th Anniversary of Ifaki Grammar School, scheduled for January 24, 2027, assuring that the association would continue to mobilise resources for the development of the school. He further urged teachers to remain steadfast in their commitment to excellence.

At the palace of the Olufaki of Ifaki-Ekiti, Oba Adegbenro Falore, Mr Olofintuyi sought the monarch’s support for the sustained growth of the institution, calling on sons and daughters of Ifaki to key into the school’s vision and mission.
Responding, Principal Adedayo Olaniyi reaffirmed the management’s commitment to preserving the school’s reputation as one of the leading secondary schools in the area. He outlined priority needs, including intensified efforts against examination malpractice, establishment of a functional ICT centre requiring about 300 computers, a well-equipped library, additional classrooms and strengthened discipline. Some teachers of the school applauded the visit and pledged their readiness to work towards greater achievements, while also calling for adequate recognition of their contributions. They assured the Principal of their continued support in uplifting the school.
In his remarks, Oba Adegbenro Falore promised to give due consideration to the requests of the alumni. He also highlighted ongoing government interventions in the community, notably the Ifaki–Esure–Eyio-Awo Road, Ado–Iworoko–Ifaki Road and Ifaki–Orin–Ido Road projects.
The visit climaxed with the presentation of an award to the monarch and his conferment as Grand Patron of IGSOSA.
Members of the entourage included the General Secretary, Oluremi Omodara; the Treasurer, Sunday Ojaomo; the Social Welfare Officer, Oluyemisi Ajayi; the Auditor I, Taiwo Adesola; and the Public Relations Officers, Kelechi David and Afolabi Adewumi, among others.
