A strong show of grassroots support has emerged from Ikogosi-Ekiti as community groups pledged financial and mobilization backing for the re-election of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
The Ikogosi Progressives Union (IPU) and the Oyebanji Age Group, Egbe Ayonimofe, jointly presented a ₦25 million campaign support package during a community engagement held at the Governor’s residence in Ikogosi.
The IPU contributed ₦20 million alongside 200 customised campaign materials, including shirts and face caps, while Egbe Ayonimofe added ₦5 million, signaling a united front in support of the Governor ahead of the forthcoming election.



Speaking at the event, IPU President, Mr. Agbaje Olusola, described the donation as a firm endorsement of Oyebanji’s leadership, citing his administration’s strides in infrastructure development, social investment, and inclusive governance. He noted that the Governor has maintained a strong connection with grassroots communities.
Similarly, the President of Egbe Ayonimofe, Deacon Ojo Ogunsesin, commended the Governor’s accessibility and consistent engagement with members of the group. He highlighted Oyebanji’s regular participation in their activities as a factor that has strengthened unity and trust within the community.
Both groups also unveiled plans to intensify grassroots mobilisation through a series of rallies across Ikogosi and neighbouring towns. A major rally has been scheduled for May 2, 2026, aimed at boosting voter awareness and participation ahead of the polls.
In addition to political mobilisation, Egbe Ayonimofe announced voter education initiatives focused on enhancing political awareness and helping citizens better understand party affiliations.
Reacting on behalf of the campaign council, Chief Alaba Abejide described the gesture as a clear vote of confidence in the Governor’s performance and growing popularity. He commended the donors for their loyalty and support.
An emotional Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude for what he called a demonstration of trust and shared ownership of his administration.
He assured supporters that their backing would further motivate him to deliver more development across key sectors in the state.
“I will not take this trust for granted,” the Governor said, reaffirming his commitment to sustaining progress and improving the welfare of Ekiti residents.
Also speaking, the Director of Media and Communications of the Biodun Oyebanji Campaign Council, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, noted that the growing support from communities like Ikogosi reflects widespread acceptance of the Governor’s leadership at the grassroots level. He added that the continued endorsement is driven by visible impact and confidence in Oyebanji’s administration as the election draws closer.
