Ilupeju Ekiti, a self-developed town with illustrious sons and daughters, home and in the diaspora are passionate about the rapid development of the town.
The traditional ruler of the ancient town, the Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti, His Royal Majesty Sunday Awe Akingbade, the Obanla of Ilupeju Ekiti, His Highness Sunday Ogunsola, Apeju-in -Council, chiefs and the leadership of Ilupeju Development Association are not resting on their oars to ensure that the town progresses and stand shoulder to shoulder with other developed towns and cities. They brainstorm often, network and facilitate programmes and social investments to the town. The ongoing projects in the town, are not the first and definitely will not be the last ; Contributions in cash and kind will never ceased where progressives reside until we all answer the call of nature at the appropriate time.
Owning to this fact, which is a truism, theTreasurer of Ilupeju Development Association, (IDA), Engineer Tola Gbuyiro opined that installation of solar lights, putting in place structures/renovation of buildings and facilities for the take-off of Federal University of Oye Ekiti, school of Nursing in the town are paramount to the town now.
According to Engineer Tola, “All hands must be on deck as we rally support for these laudable projects that will open doors of more developments for our dear town, Ilupeju Ekiti . Going by this clarion call, It’s imperative to seek individual’s timely unflinching support towards the projects that will showcase the town to the whole world. Ilupeju Ekiti will be a better place to live, invest in and do business” You will recall that the first phase of the ‘operation light up Ilupeju Ekiti has reached Galaxy Bus Stop’.Over sixty solars are still needed to complete the first phase before commencing the second and third phases.
The IDA president, Elder Banji Ogungbemi had during an interview said his vision was to see Ilupeju Ekiti taken the lead in all spheres of development to be a model for other towns. He said the electrification of the town via solar, the landscaping, buildings that will be put in place at the permanent site of school of Nursing and the asthetics would wow the management of FUOYE to award the town more courses of study .
It’s suffice to add that ‘life is give and take’ as elders usually say, little did IDA know five months ago when it sponsored and facilitated training of interested youths in solar installation and repair, tagged ‘ ILUPEJU SOLAR TEAM. Courtesy; Chief Esan Ogunleye, Elder Banji Ogungbemi, Chief Tola Gbuyiro, Chief Femi Babalola and host of others that space will not permit me to mention. Thanks to these progressives, God will bless you all. It’s heart warming that the team has taken up the installation of the solars at no cost to the town, although they worked under the strict supervision of a contractor. These young guys are indeed contributing their little quota to the development of the town. How about you? Are you still hiding under the guise of economic quagmire or you think what you have is too meagre to contribute? Common, don’t think that way, a drop of water can make a mighty ocean, so do the needful for the work to progress.
While commending the initiative of the IDA under the leadership of Elder Banji Ogungbemi, the Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti, HRM Oba Sunday Awe Akingbade applauded the IDA president, his executive members for their patriotism and ingenuity towards the development of the town. Oba Akingbade who chipped in that ‘a tree does not make a forest’ commended sons and daughters of the town for their usual contributions.
Oba Akingbade in a chat with PRECISE NEWS, affirmed the unwavering and unflinching support of his subjects for the massive development of the town. He said since his ascension on the throne, he had not ceased offering prayers for his subjects’ upliftment in their various endeavours which he opined would definitely have positive impacts on the progress of Ilupeju Ekiti.
Speaking on the solar installation and the school of Nursing projects, Oba Akingbade said, “with the renovations going on coupled with the solar project, Ilupeju Ekiti would witness unprecedented development in all areas, economically, politically and socially” Adding that the relative peace in the town would be a basis for more developmental Programmes in no distant time.
Oba Akingbade, while admonishing residents to be accommodating, charged them not to unnecessarily increase rent fees, prices of commodities and services due to influx of students that will commence studies in the town. The monarch also urged bike riders not to exploit the students. He stressed that a meeting will soon be held with the motorcycle Association on the matter.
Oba Akingbade said he was always on the move to facilitate social amenities that will benefit the town tremendously. He prayed God to bless his subjects for the timely completion of the ongoing projects. The monarch who said he was not unaware of the economic glitz, believed that God will provide, assured that the ongoing projects would not be abandoned.
