Indigenes of Ilupeju Ekiti, at home and in the diaspora have honoured their monarch, Apeju of Ilupeju-Ekiti, HRM, Oba Sunday David Awe Akingbade, with a #27 million brand new Toyota Highlander car.
Presenting the car to the monarch in a brief ceremony on Sunday in Apeju’s palace ,the president of Ilupeju Development Association, Mr Banji Ogungbemi applauded the contributions of sons and daughters of the town, home and in the diaspora for the great feat.
The I.D.A president stressed that the Grade One Oba deserved the best car, adding that he would continue to rally support of all sons and daughters of the town to attract more developments to Ilupeju Ekiti. while commending his executives, Mr Ogungbemi referred to them as his greatest strength whose ideas and suggestions have been instrumental to the peace and growth of the town .
The national president who reiterated his commitment towards making Ilupeju Ekiti a model for other towns to emulate, cited the successful installation of over nine hundred solar lights in the town as one of his programmes, adding that beautification of the town via planting of flowers and trees at strategic places are on course.
The Chairman, Ilupeju Day 2024, Mr Sola Ogunmiluyi, Permanent Secretary, rtd, congratulated the monarch. He said though, the presentation of the car was delayed due to insufficient funds generated at the programme, but appreciated God and spirited members of Ilupeju Ekiti for providing Apeju a befitting car.
According to Mr Ogunmiluyi, ” Apeju is almost 3 years on the throne, we have not foreclosed government providing car to our monarch but to ease Kabiye’s work, we need to provide him now”
The National Auditor of IDA, Chief Engineer Tola Gbuyiro who was equally charged with the responsibility of fund-raising, commended the huge contributions of some spirited sons and daughters of Ilupeju Ekiti, especially those in the diaspora for their quick response to community service. According to him, the car cost #27 million
Chairman, Ifeloju Local Council Development Area, Ilupeju Ekiti, Hon Olusola Michael Oniyelu called on eminent personalities in the town to step up building youths for the future of the town .
In a separate remark, the Obanla of Ilupeju Ekiti, His Highness, Sunday Ogunsola, immediate past IDA president, Chief Femi Babalola and chief Mrs Folake Ogunleye, the Eyetu of Ilupeju Ekiti congratulated the monarch and inhabitants of Ilupeju Ekiti for the great feat.
Appreciating the gesture, the Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti showered prayers on all his subjects, prayed God to elevate them in all spheres of life, as he equally prayed for the peace of Ilupeju Ekiti.
