The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti state Information Chapel has presented an Award of Excellence to the chairman of Moba Local Government, Hon Bamidele FADUGBA for his people’s oriented programmes.
Presenting the award at the 2024 Press week dinner of the Information Chapel on Wednesday, the chairman of the planning committee, Comrade Abiodun Olofe said the recipients of the awards were carefully selected based on their various activities and programmes that had a direct impact on the masses.
According to Olofe, ” Hon Fadugba was picked for the award because he prioritized the safety of lives and properties of Moba people for establishing ‘MASE SECURITY OUTFIT’ and other peoples’ oriented programmes put in place in his Local Government”
The award presentation had in attendance: the commissioner for information, Rt Hon .TAIWO Olatunbosun, Special Adviser to the governor on Media,Mr YINKA OYEBODE, NUJ Chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information, Prince Olasesan ALABI, Director General Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship, Mrs Olawumi Famuyiwa among others.
In his acceptance speech , the Chairman, Hon FADUGBA appreciated the Ekiti NUJ for keeping watch on the activities of local Government chairmen and the politicians in the state, saying, doing so would spur politicians to do more and ensure the masses enjoyed dividends of democracy.
Hon Fadugba reiterated the gains of the MASE SECURITY OUTFIT to include : adequate security of lives and properties, job opportunities and food security. He said” Before the establishment of the security outfit in Moba, our farmers always have their farm produce carted away by thieves ; this discouraged some of them from going to farm and there was palpable fear in Moba. I am glad to inform you now that with the collaboration of MASE and the government securities, residents of Moba go about doing their businesses and trades without fear. As we speak, MOBA Local Government has cultivated eight hectares of land ; We have employed many youths to work in the farm, with this, we have food sufficiency.
The chairman said, ” I am trying to replicate some of the people’s oriented programmes of the executive Governor in Moba Local Government. Honestly, Ekiti is lucky to have Governor Biodun Oyebanji, a God sent who has transformed every sectors in the state in the last two years ”
Hon Fadugba commended the governor for his transformatory programmes, while calling on Ekiti residents to pray and support the governor for more dividends of democracy. “Ekiti is in safe hands, I dedicate this award to Mr Governor.” Hon FADUGBA stated
