Women participating in the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up (NFWP-SU) in Ekiti State have recorded a major milestone, as many beneficiaries successfully enrolled with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to obtain their National Identification Number (NIN).
The initiative, implemented across the three pilot Local Government Areas—Efon, Moba, and Ayekire/Gbonyin—targeted women in various Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) who previously lacked access to formal identification.
Through coordinated efforts of NFWP-SU, NIMC enrollment services were brought closer to the grassroots, ensuring easy access and active participation.
Speaking on the development, the Ekiti State Project Coordinator, Oluwatoyin Familoni, described the exercise as a critical step toward deepening women’s inclusion in national and economic development. She emphasized that obtaining a NIN is essential for accessing financial services, government interventions, and other empowerment opportunities.

According to her, NFWP-SU remains committed to implementing impactful initiatives that go beyond savings and group activities, focusing on interventions that improve the socio-economic wellbeing of women at the grassroots.
Beneficiaries across the WAGs expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that the enrollment has given them a sense of identity and opened doors to new opportunities, including access to formal financial systems and social protection programmes.
The successful enrollment drive underscores the commitment of NFWP-SU to promoting inclusiveness, removing barriers, and ensuring that women in Ekiti State are not left behind in the journey toward sustainable development.
