The atmosphere at Obalatan Grammar School, Ilupeju Ekiti, was charged with emotion and celebration as the school held a grand valedictory service in honour of its outgoing SS3 and JSS3 students. The ceremony, which took place at the school premises, was marked by heartfelt speeches, inspiring advice, and the presentation of gifts by the graduating students.
As a sign of appreciation, the graduating SS3 students donated three executive office chairs to the office of the principal and a brand-new public address system to the school by the JSS 3 students. The gesture was applauded by participants at the programme.
In his address, the Principal of the school, Mr. Titiloye, commended the students for their maturity and generosity, encouraging them to continue to make the school proud as they move on to higher levels of learning. “You are the ambassadors of Obalatan Grammar School,” he stated, “and it is my hope that you carry with you the academic excellence, morals, and values instilled in you here.
Adding a spiritual tone to the event, Rev. Father Oyelami challenged government, parents, and the society at large to guide the youths rightly as they forge ahead in life. “Your support,” he noted, “is germane to their growth and fulfillment in their chosen careers.”
Alhaji Rasaq Amusa, a prominent figure among the school’s alumni, praised the students for honouring their alma mater through their thoughtful donations. He reassured them of the continued support of the alumni association in their future endeavours. Alhaji Amusa also used the opportunity to call on parents and guardians to consider enrolling more students in Obalatan Grammar School, citing the school’s track record in morals and academic excellence.
In the same vein, the Vice Principal, Mr. Jimoh Lasisi, lauded the school’s alumni who initiated awards for outstanding students in different fields of study, noting that the awards served as motivation for academic distinction and good conduct.
The valedictory service was punctuated with musical interludes, cultural presentations, and showcase of talents by the students. Proud parents and community leaders turned out in their numbers to celebrate with the graduating class.
As the event drew to a close, the graduating students, many of whom were visibly emotional, took a final walk around the school, bidding farewell to a place that had shaped their formative years.
