The Executives of the Obanco National Alumni Association has presented awards of excellence to outstanding members of the Association, former principals and teachers who had contributed to the growth and development of Obalatan Commercial Grammar School, Ilupeju Ekiti.
The presentation of awards took place during the Alumni 2025 dinner held at IBIDUN HALL, Ilupeju Ekiti.
The National President, Prof John OLOYEDE commended the old students for their cooperation, support and contributions toward the development of their alma mater. While calling on members who are yet to join the progressive train to urgently do so to restore her lost glory.
“The Alumni week is not only designed as an integral part of our determined effort to rebrand, reunite, re-gather and refresh ourselves from time to time but grossly envisioned moving the Association and Obalatan Grammar School forward to fulfill her defined mission and mandate .
We are here to : reconnect, rebuild, resuscitate relationships, strategize to get more resources for the development of the school, especially completing the ongoing administrative block building project and many others that are in the pipeline” Prof OLOYEDE noted.
On his part, the chairman of the Alumni week, Engineer Dare Omodudu applauded individuals and groups who had impacted the students and school, he called for more collaborative efforts that would show to the world that Obalatan Grammar School is great and had produced eminent personalities in and outside the shore of Nigeria.
He said ” The kind unity we need now must come with a very strong strategy which must be built on a solid understanding of our current position, clear goals , well- defined vision and plan for execution. It involves analysing the internal and external environment, identifying strengths, weakness and developing a plan to achieve desired results.”
While reiterating the need to be united in moving the school forward, Engineer Omodudu enjoined members to forget the past and remain focussed on making the school a model for other schools in Nigeria.
In his goodwill message, the Chairman of School Based Management Committee (SBMC), Mr. Sola Ogunmiluyi, (rtd) Permanent Secretary, said Obanco has produced thousands of outstanding Alumni who are actively contributing to nation-building both within Nigeria and across the world
“Our graduates have excelled as academics, civil servants, military officers, political leaders, religious leaders and key players in the private sector of the Nigerian economy”.
He called on the stakeholders and
members of the alumni who are still drag footing to cooperate, collaborate, and partner to witness the renaissance of Obalatan Commercial Grammar School to tackle the present challenges bedeviling the school.
Awards of excellence were presented to deserving individuals.

The National Executives were honoured while 2025 alumni committee members and sub committee heads were also presented certificates of commendation .
Obalatan and ‘AGADA’ cultural troupe added glamour to the event The memory of the event cannot be forgotten in a jiffy.
Responding on behalf of the G7, the coordinator, Mr Oska Seyi Aiyeleso, appreciated the national Executives and promised that the group would continue to support them to achieve their desired goals.
Also, Mr Adekunle Oguntimehin, a former teacher thanked the national Executives for honouring his little efforts towards building the future of his students. He added that , even after retirement, the kind gesture would spur him to continue building lives.
