Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the winner of the Osun governorship election.
The Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, announced that Adeleke got a total votes of 403,371 to defeat the incumbent Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola of All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 375,027 votes in a keenly contested election
According to the total votes recorded by INEC, the PDP won 17 Local Government Areas while the APC won 13 Local Government.
The Local Government won by PDP are: Ede North, Ede South, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Egbedore, Odo Otin, Osogbo, Ila, Atakumosa West, Olorunda, Ilesa West, Obokun, Oriade, Orolu, Ife North, Irepodun, and Ejigbo .
While APC, won : Boripe, Ilesa East, Ayedire, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Ayedaade, Iwo, Olaoluwa, Isokan, Atakumosa East, Ife South, Ife Central, and Ife East.
There was jubilation in all the nooks and crannies of Osun State, as the PDP members and their supporters trooped out dancing round towns and villages.
