Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the party’s 2026 governorship primaries.
Adeleke’s resignation letter dated November 4, 2025, was addressed to the Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, Ede, Osun State.
In the letter titled “Resignation of My Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)”, Governor Adeleke attributed his decision to the ongoing leadership crisis rocking the party at the national level.

“Due to the current crisis of the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party with immediate effect,” the letter reads in part.
Adeleke also expressed appreciation to the PDP for the platform it provided him, acknowledging the party’s role in his election as Senator representing Osun West and later as Governor of Osun State.
