The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, has described her boss, Biodun Oyebanji as a leader with incredible accomplishments and robust trajectory of service, who has demonstrated capacity and sound character as symbols of good governance.
Mrs Afuye said with Oyebanji in the saddle, governance has been redesigned to mean leading with compassion and mercy for the poor, thereby ending absolute power display that puts the masses in cul-de-sac of irrelevance and obscurity.
The Deputy Governor said these in her glowing tributes to Governor Oyebanji on the occasion of his 58th birthday and titled: “Celebrating a leader with sound and distinctive moral ground at 58”.
Mrs Afuye, in a statement signed by her Special Assistant on Media, Victor Ogunje, on Sunday,21st December,2025 celebrated the Ekiti’s number one citizen for proving that governance is solely about making impacts in the lives of the masses and not an avenue to pillage the resources through corrupt enrichment and personal aggrandisement.


The Deputy Governor praised her boss for truly leaving for humanity as reflected in his inclusive governance style fully anchored on execution of welfarist programmes for the poor to build an egalitarian society, where both the rich and poor can savour the dividends of democracy.
The number two citizen was enthralled with how Oyebanji changed the sordid political narratives of the past years, and radicalised politics in Ekiti, thereby making him a unifier among political forces.
She specifically saluted Oyebanji for redesigning politics and governance in the state by allowing people to take ownership of government, saying this has helped in building mutual trust between the leaders and the populace.
Mrs Afuye stated that Oyebanji started making remarkable history at 27, when he joined other distinguished Ekiti Patriots in the epic battle for the creation of the state, saying the governor is now building on that legacy he started over 29 years ago as the State Chief Executive.
“Let me join your family, acquaintances and teeming admirers in celebrating the architect of modern politics in Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji as he clocks 58.
“It is not just a celebration of gradual advancement in your age and time, but in the positive and landmark achievements you are making in the lives of the people.
“You started building a rocky antecedents for yourself when you joined the fray at a tender age to fight for the creation of our dear state. At the risk of your intellectual and financial resources, you joined this gallant epochal pursuit despite the uncertainty around it.
“It is not now that you become the governor that you started etching your name in gold as a born leader, this has long been manifested and what you are doing as a governor is to further expand the scope of your indelible impacts and consolidate the gains for our people
“Within this short time you became the governor, you have raised the bar of governance and build the trust between the government and the governed. Steadily, our people are beginning to have implicit and unshaken confidence in their leaders due to the way you have led them with humility and inclusivity. Ekiti is now in the era of government for all of us and not for a crony.
“This leadership also reflected over how we have co-piloted Ekiti in the last three years peacefully. With your incredible and dazzling team work spirit, you have succeeded in dismantling the “spare tyre” syndrome often associated with the office of the Deputy Governor.
“My boss and leader, on behalf of my husband and children, I rejoice with you today on this spectacular occasion of your 58th birthday and wish you long life and sound mental state to live the rest of your days to be able to make stupendous impacts in the lives of your people”.
