Following the statewide endorsement of president Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for second term in offices by former governor Peter Ayodele Fayose on Monday, The leading candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Hon ( Mrs ) Ogun Funmilayo Theresa has called on members of the party to remain determined, resolute and focused to win the 2026 governorship election.
Hon Ogun flanked by the sixteen PDP local governments Chairmen said the party was intact, vibrant and more committed to wrestle power from the incumbent Governor. She said former Governor Fayose is not God that will determine who wins 2026 election, saying Ekiti people will decide.
She disclosed these at a meeting of the sixteen PDP chairmen in the state held in her office along Ajilosun, Ado Ekiti, in preparation for the forthcoming election. Adding that members should not to be discouraged by the wave of defection. To her, ‘PDP remains the party that will cater for the masses based on its numerous achievements.
The PDP chieftain assured Ekiti residents that with all hands on deck and toeing the right part when the time comes, PDP will put smiles on their faces again. She enjoined all leaders and members who have left the party for APC or ADC to have a rethink and return to the party, expressing optimism that the PDP would win 2026 gubernatorial election in the state.
The former Works Commissioner frowned at what she called unbecoming and immature remarks of former governor Ayo Fayose concerning the party, pointing out that the national body has the mechanism to deal with such action, while reassuring loyalists at the grassroots to continue mobilising for the party.
On their parts, Chairman of the sixteen PDP Chairmen who doubles as the Chairman of Efon Local Government, Hon AJANAKU OLUYEMI and the publicity Secretary who is the chairman of Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government affirmed their readiness to work for the victory of their party in 2026 election .
