Ekiti state Commissioner of Police, Mr Joseph Eribo, has reiterated his commitment to making Ekiti free from crimes.
The Commissioner gave the assurance on Tuesday while addressing officers and men of the force at the Ado Central Police Command, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, at the end of the familiarization visits to police commands in the state.
He remarked that the security approach in the fight against unscrupulous elements has made the state to enjoy relative peace. This, he added, brought professionalism to bear on the way officers of the command carry out their duties.
The police chief pointed out that the cooperation of members of the public is important for the police to succeed in their job. He stressed the need for the public to be willing to disseminate vital information to the police to facilitate their job.
He gave an assurance that information supplied by any member of the public will be treated with the expected confidentiality to avoid the fear of members of the public volunteering information to the police and being implicated by the same police at the end.
The Area Commander for Ado Central Police Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, Shittu Bolanle, promised that the command will continue to ensure protection of lives and property.
The event was attended by journalists,members of the Police community relations committee, traditional and religious leaders, artisans, traders, transport workers’ unions, among others.
