The management of the Federal College of Education, Ilawe-Ekiti wishes to respond to the recent publications by some online media platforms raising concerns about the institution’s legitimacy, existence, and operational status.
First and foremost, the College is a duly established Federal institution of higher learning located in Ilawe-Ekiti, Ekiti State. The existence and activities of the College should therefore not be in doubt. Since its establishment, the institution has continued to carry out its mandate of training qualified teachers and contributing to educational development within the state and beyond.
Contrary to the insinuations made in the publications, the College maintains active and official social media platforms through which information about its academic programmes, activities, and institutional developments are regularly communicated to the public. Members of the public are encouraged to follow these platforms for accurate and up-to-date information about the College.
It is also important to clarify that the distribution of flyers and posters recently observed in Ilawe Market and other locations were part of a wider awareness and outreach campaign aimed at informing prospective students and the general public about the opportunities available at the college. Such outreach efforts are common communication strategies used by many institutions across the country and should not be misconstrued as evidence of non-existence or irregular operation.
Furthermore, the campaign was not limited to Ilawe alone; promotional materials have been distributed across several states as part of efforts to broaden awareness of the institution and its programmes. In addition to the distribution of flyers and posters, the College has adopted several other channels to effectively reach the public. These include visits to various religious centres and places of worship to engage directly with communities, the use of corporate ring-back tunes through MTN Group to promote awareness, and radio Jingle were broadcast on the following radio stations : TNT at Kwara State, Midas 90.5 FM at Ado-Ekiti and Adaba FM 88.9 at Akure. The institution has also participated in radio interviews on Cruise FM to further enlighten the public about its programmes and activities. In addition, the College took part in community sporting events such as marathon races and has strategically placed banners and flyers across various cities to increase visibility and public awareness.
The management therefore finds it necessary to correct the misleading impression created by the reports. The College remains fully operational and committed to its mandate of providing quality teacher education and supporting the educational advancement of our society.
We urge media organisations to always seek clarification from the appropriate authorities before publishing information that may create unnecessary doubt or misrepresentation.
The management of the Federal College of Education, Ilawe-Ekiti appreciates the interest of the public in the institution and remains committed to transparency, engagement with the community, and continuous development.
Signed
