The President of Ilupeju Youth Development Association (IYDA), Engineer Femi Fagbemi, has commended the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, alongside spirited sons and daughters of Ilupeju and Itapa Ekiti, for the renovation and provision of state-of-the-art equipment at the Ilupeju/Itapa General Hospital.
Engineer Fagbemi noted that the modern equipment and recent recruitment of doctors and nurses at the hospital have significantly improved healthcare delivery, addressing health challenges of residents in Ilupeju Ekiti and neighbouring communities.
He made this known on Monday during a courtesy visit to the hospital, where he led other executive members of the youth body. He recalled that the Ilupeju/Itapa General Hospital was among the numerous health facilities recently given a facelift by Governor Oyebanji.
The youth executives, who were conducted round the facility by the hospital management, expressed satisfaction with the services of health workers, stating that feedback from residents who have accessed the hospital since its renovation has been highly commendable.
“Honestly, your effective service delivery has given those of us living outside this community peace of mind, knowing that our families and relatives are receiving the best treatment. This has greatly reduced the mortality rate. We are indeed grateful to Governor Oyebanji for his timely intervention in prioritising the health and wellbeing of our people. I must also commend the contributions of our illustrious sons and daughters from Ilupeju and Itapa, whose support and investments sustained the hospital even before it received government’s attention,” Fagbemi stated.
He further urged residents to always patronise the general hospital, stressing that there is no need to travel long distances before getting quality healthcare. “We have capable doctors and nurses who can adequately attend to your health challenges. All you need to do is consult them on time before situations get out of hand,” he advised.
While appreciating the hospital management, Fagbemi appealed to them to keep their charges moderate and to remain accommodating and friendly in their dealings with patients.
Responding on behalf of the hospital, the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Akintayo, and the Hospital Secretary, Mr. Owomorinle Sunday, expressed appreciation to the youth body for the visit, saying it would further encourage them to be more hospitable. They also lauded the Ekiti State Government and host communities for their support, pledging excellent healthcare services to the people.
The management, however, highlighted some critical needs of the facility to include: computer sets, an ambulance, a functional mortuary, casual workers, construction of a security post, and furniture, among others, for more effective service delivery.
Other members of the hospital management present at the meeting included the Accountant, Mrs. Owolabi, and the Head of Nursing Services, Mrs. Omoleye, Director of Media and publicity, Hon Joseph Oluropo, and other Members of the IYDA executive were also in attendance.
