Residents of Osan, Omi-Igbo, Epe and Ofale have commended the Executive Chairman of Moba Local Government, Hon Bamidele FADUGBA for facilitating grading and opening of farm roads for socio -economic development.
The residents at the weekend told PRECISE NEWS that the roads have been abandoned for over Forty years, saying it took frantic efforts of Moba Local Government Chairman to get the nod of FADAMA to open up the roads.
Some of the residents said they were happy that their farm produce would no longer waste as they will easily move them to the market, adding that their standard of living would improve with the opening of the roads and also boost food supply in Moba Local Government.
In a telephone chat, the executive Chairman of Moba, Hon FADUGBA appreciated Ekiti State FADAMA Co-ordinator and her team, Mrs Okunlola OLAYEMI Yetunde who gave approval for the opening of the roads. He said large quantities of farm produce wasted yearly in the communities due to bad roads to convey them to Moba market and other big towns in Ekiti State. “This is a major breakthrough in Moba Local Government, these roads: Osan, Omi-Igbo, Epe and Ofale roads have been abandoned for over forty years and these roads are very important to the socio- economy of Ekiti state because majority of the residents are farmers who find it difficult to move their farm products to the market because the roads were not opened.
“I did research about the roads and discovered that Moba local Government has no financial strength to execute the project, hence i approached FADAMA to let them see reasons why the roads should be opened not only for community development but for sufficiency of food in Ekiti state in line with Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s Agricultural agenda and they obliged me. The contractor handling the roads has commenced work and promised to complete it in three months”
The chairman added that the roads lead to Osun state, Iloro Ekiti and other neighbouring towns, saying when completed, traffic on Otun roads would drastically reduce and it would provide source of livelihood to transporters as the economy of the communities would thrive and increase the internally Generated Revenue of Moba Local Government .The chairman promised to ensure proper maintenance of the roads and making the road safe for commuters
