The globally renowned Community-based humanitarian organization, Rotary International has donated maternal and child care equipments worth several millions of Naira to Ekiti State government in support of the government’s commitment to healthcare service delivery.
Presenting the equipment to Ekiti State Ministry of Health in Ado-Ekiti, the organization’s National Coordinator for National Family Planning Campaign, Prof. Adedolapo Lufadeju commended the State Government for its commitment to wellbeing and health of the citizens of the State.
Lufadeju noted that Ekiti State has made tremendous progress in the area of provision of healthcare services in the last few years as he disclosed that many states competed with Ekiti State for the equipment, saying the State stood out amongst the competing states by meeting conditions for partnership with the organization.
The organization’s representative disclosed Rotary’s readiness to partner with the state in the areas of capacity building training for health workers.
Items donated include; MUAC Bands, Sanitary pads, Hands Sanitizers, Cotton wool, Pregnancy Test Strip, Surgical Blades, Andrenalin Inj, IUD insertion and removal kits, Antiseptic purit, Vit.K, mosquito net, bathing kits, and dissecting forcepts.
Others are :folic acid, paracetamol, blood Lancet, weighing scale glucometer, Rechargable lamps, and Malaria Rapid Screening kits, among others.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Ekiti State Government, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani expressed appreciation to the Organisation for its unwavering support and continuous collaboration with the state especially in the area of donations of health commodities.
Dr Filani who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Human Services, Mrs Olusola Gbenga-Igotun assured health partners in the state and intending partners of a conducive environment as well as the best use of all items donated to the state.
While making their remarks, the Permanent Secretary Hospital Management Board, Dr Olasunkanmi Alabi and Executive Secretary, Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Ayodele Seluwa thanked the Rotary International for the gesture and solicited for more support and collaboration.
