The Secretary, Ondo Progressives’ Forum, Comrade Toba Akintade has has cautioned Mr. Niyi Akingunola, Special Adviser to Mr Bola Ilori for threatening journalists who have fingered him in the blackmail and smear campaign against Ondo MHR, Abiola Makinde.
This was contained in a statement by a leading Ondo Group, noted that Ekimogun Rountable was taken to cleaner over what was termed as anti-progressive and anti-development disposition displayed by Niyi Akingunola in recent weeks.
‘As an organisation, we take full exception to the latest ploy of the Ekimogun Roundtable led by Mr Niyi Akingunola, Special Assistant to Ondo APC Stalwart, Bola Ilori, in his latest game of threatening journalists who publish their underlying game of blackmail against Ondo MHR,masqurading it as community interest. It is abundantly clear that the Ekimogun Roundtable has abandoned any pretense of seeking genuine solutions for our community’s development. Instead, Mr Niyi Akingunola and his cohorts running the smear and blackmail campaign have chosen to engage in petty and destructive tactics that serve no purpose other than to halt progress and sow discord.
Rather than collaborating to address the pressing issues facing Ondo, your group has opted for a path of divisiveness. The relentless media attacks and attempts at blackmail only expose a deep-seated agenda driven by personal grievances rather than the collective good. Your behavior is a disservice to the very community you claim to represent and only serves to further entrench the obstacles we face. It suffices to ask these nefarious set of people why they have not extended this same fact-finding mission to other federal lawmakers with the mandate to represent Ondo and other representatives across board?
As an organisation, we urge Niyi Akingunola and his merry friends to desist from the campaign of calumny they have instituted and weaponised against a performing Rep who even recently launched a project to construct motor parks.
We are also curious as to why Mr Niyi with all of his influence in the Ministry of Interior for 8 years, could only help his wife into the Nigerian Immigration. Are other sons and daughters of Ondo not worthy of such glorified slot? Whoever comes to equity must come with clean hands. This and many other questions beg for answers from Mr Niyi Akinguola and his Roundtable of lies,falsehood and blackmail.
