Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has rallied more support for her husband, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, for the ongoing developmental strides to continue in the state.
Dr. Oyebanji said the support of the people of the state capital and her hometown, Ado Ekiti, would be very key to the realization of the shared prosperity agenda of the current administration.
The First Lady made the remarks on Friday when she received the national leadership of the apex indigenous association of the city, Ado Progressive Union (APU) who paid her a courtesy visit in her office.
The Governor’s wife expressed gratitude to the massive support her husband’s aspiration to the highest office in the state received in the run-up to the 2022 governorship election which produced him as the eventual winner.
“I can’t thank APU enough for the support my husband enjoyed during the last election. You did all that for BAO because I’m one of you and I can assure you that BAO is also grateful to you and I’m sure he wouldn’t disappoint you,” she said.
The wife of the Governor echoed that it was evidently clear that Ado Ekiti is gradually becoming a transformed state capital in the areas of infrastructure and other capital projects, hence more of it would come if continuous support for Oyebanji’s administration is intensified.
Dr Oyebanji charged the APU, which is the umbrella body for all Ado sons and daughters, to look into the direction of empowering indigent citizens by training them in skill acquisition like Adire making among others to alleviate poverty in the land.
Earlier in his address, the National President of the APU, Engr. Segun Famuagun, applauded the wife of the Governor whom he described as a “worthy daughter of Ado Ekiti.”
He appreciated the relentless efforts of Governor Oyebanji in giving Ado Ekiti a befitting facelift and commended him for work done on all the road networks within and outside Ado Ekiti.
The National President who spoke on behalf of the body reaffirmed the the support of the APU and Ado Ekiti to the administration of Governor Oyebanji. He said things can only get better when the needed support is given to the government of the day.
He pledged that the Union would be delighted to partner the Office of the First Lady in her quest to assist the vulnerable through her Widows and Orphans Hope Project (WAOH).
The Union through its Treasurer, Mrs. Folasade Akintola, and the Assistant Secretary, Evangelist Bisade George, gave the report of the union to the First Lady since the inception of the current executive.
