The newly inaugurated president of Ilupeju Development Associaion, Elder Banji Ogungbemi has called for the unity of the town, saying no meaningful development can be achieved when relationship of subjects are strained.
He added that his administration would work assiduously to reposition the town to be envy of other towns in Nigeria.
Elder Banji Ogungbemi made this known while delivering his Inaugural speech at Ilupeju Ekiti Civic Centre on Saturday, 29th April, 2023.
The IDA president who appreciated the past Executives for their achievements in both human and physical developments which he said had put the town in a world map. Stressing that all physical projects on ground would be sustained and uncompleted ones completed in no distance time. He highlighted the projects to include: Magistrate Court, Modern Police station, modern library, E- library center, modern market, LCDA, renovation of Apeju’s palace and other interventions.
Elder Ogungbemi reiterated his commitment to human capital Development, saying youths would be mentored while educational Development would be enhanced. “Our youths are the future of the town, their Development will be major plank of this administration, our youths will be mentored. We will explore the possibility of giving Schorlarship and grants to bright but poor students of institutions of higher learning. Old students of primary and Secondary schools will be encouraged to take ownership of educational Development projects as a way of giving back to the institutions that laid the foundation of their education”
While assuring Apeju- in Council cordial and progressive working relationship to move the town forward, elder Ogungbemi promised to make Apeju’s palace and the chiefs center of attraction for tourism and research based for culture and leadership training.
The new president who acknowledged the importance of finance in community development, called on all sons and daughters of Ilupeju Ekiti to join IDA branches in their place of residence, saying their unflinching support would quickly help the town achieve her main goals.
He added that his administration would support sons and daughters of Ilupeju Ekiti who are interested in playing active and progressive Politics. ” In Nigeria of this age, self- interest is not sin, Politics drives community development. We will encourage our youths to take part in active Politics at Local, State and Federal levels. We will support them” Elder Ogungbemi said.
The president who said he had scout the town and discovered some dilapidated buildings however called on Ilupejus in diaspora to come home and renovate their ancestral homes before they turned to debris.
Earlier, the outgoing IDA president, Chief (Dr) Femi Babalola had given his account of stewardship, appreciated the concerted efforts of Ilupejus ,home and abroad for making his achievements in office for 8 years laudable.
He applauded all his Executives by given them certificates and awards of excellence. Saying the awards would spur them to do more in future.
While reacting to the performance of the outgoing president, BOT, Chief Esan Ogunleye appreciated the Executives, however tasked the new Executives to sensitize all sons and daughters of the town to join IDA wherever they live.
Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sunday David Awe Akingbade commended the outgoing Executives for the numerous Developments attracted to the town, he prayed for the town and her subjects to succeed in all spheres of life.
