As the world celebrates Valentine’s Day, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ekiti State Chapter, has advised youths, especially, young women to prioritize their future as they celebrate. Valentine’s day is annually celebrated every February 14.
NAWOJ Chairperson Mrs Adewumi Ademiju, in a statement signed by the Secretary Mrs. Funmi Falae, emphasized the importance of love for peaceful coexistence in promoting national unity.
“Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love, and we must not forget the significance of love in our lives, Love is the foundation of peaceful coexistence, and it is essential for promoting national unity.”
Mrs. Ademiju however cautioned young women not to jeopardize their bright future in the course of celebration.
“We urge our young women not to engage in activities that can destroy their lives and cause harm to them, Your future is bright and you must prioritize it above all else”, she said.
NAWOJ gave the warning as many young people are expected to celebrate Valentine’s Day with their loved ones.
While the celebration is expected to be joyful, NAWOJ Ekiti is urging young women to be mindful of their actions and desist from engaging in untoward activity.
Ademiju in the statement said:
“The February 14 Valentine is an annual celebration to show admiration to your loved ones and people around you.
” As a Day of Compassion,Love and Care, it’s an opportunity to appreciate and celebrate those that have contributed positively to your development as a Girl Child.
“It’s also a day to admire and value your friends ,role models- such as parents,teachers and other meaningful stakeholders ”
Women Journalists called on Girl Child to be guided against misconception about the Celebration for the sake of their future.
NAWOJ Ekiti wishes all Nigerians a happy Valentine Day and urges everyone to celebrate with love, care, and responsibility.
