Ekiti State First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, has encouraged a youth advocacy group, known as the 10,000 Man Match Team, to intensify public sensitization on voter participation and the need for eligible residents to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of upcoming elections.
Dr. Oyebanji gave the charge in Ado-Ekiti while hosting members of the group during a courtesy visit to her office.
The Governor’s wife described the planned rally as “timely and vital to democratic participation,” noting that credible elections depend on citizens actively exercising their civic responsibilities.
She urged the group to ensure that their sensitization efforts remain issue-based and emphasized the importance of highlighting key interventions of government at both the state and federal levels.
These interventions, she noted, include investments in infrastructure such as roads, health facilities, and other social projects that have positively impacted communities across Ekiti State.
The First Lady further assured the team of her full support for the initiative and commended the organizers for mobilizing young people toward constructive civic engagement.
Earlier, the representative of the convener, Hon. Sunday Asefon, and the team lead, Mr. Kasali Oluwafemi, explained that the visit was to formally present souvenirs for the match to the First Lady and to brief her on preparations for Friday’s rally aimed at encouraging residents to obtain or retrieve their PVCs.
He stated that youths would take the lead in the march as part of a wider effort to promote voter education and democratic awareness in the state.
The group also applauded Dr. Oyebanji for her service to humanity and her sustained support to widows, orphans and vulnerable groups through various empowerment programmes.
