The Ekiti state commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo has assured the command’s determination to make Ekiti state ungovernable for criminals, saying wherever their hideout may be, they would be smoked out .
The Commissioner of police who said part of the strategies to make residents live harmoniously without chaos and social unrest was the bush combing of all neighbouring states with Ekiti that the command has embarked on .
CP Eribo disclosed this in an interactive session with few journalists who paid him a visit in his office. The CP said the bush combing involves all sister agencies; Army, Immigration, Director of State Services, Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, Agro Marshall, Amotekun and Vigilante among others. According to the CP” We are taking the battle to the kidnappers’ den, we are not waiting till they start picking innocent travellers and whoever is caught in the forest without proper identification will be prosecuted. This exercise is currently going on in Ekiti borders with: Kwara state, Osun , Ondo and Partially Kogi states”, the CP added.
While commending Ekiti state Governor, Biodun Oyebanji for providing necessary logistics for the command to seamlessly carried out their duties, the Commissioner of Police said the governor had also engaged the youths with progressive ventures that earned them decent living , saying that had in no small ways reduced crimes in the state to lower ebbs. He also appreciated residents of the state for being law abiding due to their educational status and enlightenment which made cooperation with the Police command easy .
Speaking on the nefarious activities in ATIKANKAN area of Ado Ekiti, CP Eribo said the command is on top of the situation, adding that with the cooperation of Ekiti state Governor, efforts are on to wire and install CCTV cameras at all black spots in the state for adequate security. He enjoined marketers and labourers who are yet to relocate to where government provided for them to do so in their own interest , saying, in no distant time the place will develop to their admiration.
On the forth coming primary and gubernatorial elections in the state, CP ERIBO said all hands are on deck for peace to reign before, during and after the election .He assured residents to go about their
legitimate businessess without nursing fear.
The CP advised Ekiti residents to continue to be law abiding and report suspicious movements and activities to the appropriate quarters saying, development can only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere.
