The president of Ilupeju youth Development Associaion, Engineer Femi Fagbemi on Friday morning led youths of the town on Community social responsibilities (CSR) where potholes, thick bushes around the popular Esinkun junction and sharp corner opposite Obalatan Grammar school were filled with sand and bushes/ trees cleared to avert accident.
Engineer Fagbemi who lamented the rate at which accidents claim lives along Esinkun-Obalatan enroute Itapa due to potholes and bushes that prevent on coming vehicles from clearly seening each other necessitated the proactive action of the youths .
While speaking with Precise News, he said Nigerians should have maintenance culture for the well being of all and sundries, saying it’s for the good of both government and citizens.
He stressed further that Government would spend less if roads are urgently fixed before they become impassible for users .
He cautioned drivers and motorcycle riders to reduce their speed on the road, saying live has no duplicate.
According to the president, “We youths are agile, we can not pretend that we are not aware of the dangers potholes, bushes and trees that cover the part ways portend to our people, Unfortunately, our members are mostly victims of this ugly trend that can be averted if we are sensitive enough. Three days ago, a fatal accident occurred on the very spot we filled this morning. With the little we have done, lives of our people are saved because drivers would no longer veer into the bad spots again. Although, what we have done is not the permanent solution but Government can take it up from where we stopped.”
While passing, the Apeju of Ilupeju Ekiti, HRM, Oba Sunday David Awe (Akingbade) alighted from his car, prayed for the youths and commended their selfless Service to Ilupeju Ekiti.
