The wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, has tasked Local government Chairmen to complement the good works of the state governor by putting in place programmes and facilities that would impact lives of rural dwellers.
The Governor’s wife made the call at the commissioning of Adire Ekiti Hub/Lab and empowerment programme in Isaya, Ekiti South East Local Council Development Area.
While appreciating the chairperson of Ekiti South East Local Council Development Area, Hon Antonia Alaba Omonusi, for replicating Adire Ekiti production at the local council. Dr Olayemi called on other chairmen to emulate the impactful gesture, saying doing this would, make Ekiti residents, irrespective of where they live in the state to enjoy dividends of democracy.
“Seeing some of the students I trained at the Adire Ekiti Hub in Ado Ekiti making different Adire prints and designs at the Ekiti South East LCDA has really impressed me and this I know has been made possible because the chairperson of the council Antonia Omonusi has the love of her people at heart”. She said.
She explained that giving priority to social amenities and other things that could empower people for self reliance would ensure a veritable means of making direct impact in the lives of rural dwellers and subsequently complement the efforts of state government in the area of human capital development.
She expressed confidence in the administration of Ekiti South East LCDA Chairperson, Mrs Antonia Alaba Omonusi, who had executed various capital projects across nine communities of the development areas like the basic health center at Araromi Oke Ekiti and an ultra modern administrative block inside the Secretariat complex of the LCDA.
Dr Oyebanji who used the platform to commend the community and the people of the LCDA for their support to Governor Biodun Oyebanji led administration noted that the strides of the chairperson have only been possible because of the positive disposition of government to development at the councils areas.
The Governor’s wife therefore appreciated all traditional rulers who supported the council chairperson in the execution of some empowerment materials to the beneficiaries like motorcycles, refrigerators, grinding machines, hair dryers, sewing machines generating sets, cash gifts to driver’s union and iyalojas among others.
Earlier in her address, the Chairperson, Ekiti South East LCDA, Hon Alaba Omonusi expressed appreciation to Governor Biodun Oyebanji whom she said the empowerment was dedicated to for his second term bid and who has been a great pillar behind the execution of the numerous projects.
She said the communities would enjoy more of the dividend of democracy when they give the administration of BAO their total support. She commended the first lady for her Adire Ekiti initiative which has placed Ekiti State in the frontline among other states in the world map.
Speaking on behalf of other traditional rulers at the event, the Asaya of Isaya Community, Oba Matthew Ajayi urged all stakeholders in the development of the state to provide adequate security for government properties.
He however appealed to the government to expedite action on the take-off of a newly constructed Comprehensive high school in the community so that pupils from primary schools in the area would not have to travel far before attending secondary schools.
