The team of the wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji stormed Gbonyin, Ekiti East and Ikole local government areas today where the elderly and widows were given foodstuffs and cash gifts .
Dr Olayemi Oyebanji reiterated her commitment to prioritizing the needs of the aged and widows, especially at the grassroots.
The Governor’s wife reaffirmed her commitment to making lives bearable to the aged through the Coordinator of her pet Project “Widows Aged and Orphans Hope Initiative ( WAOH) , Mrs Kemi Dairo explained that the well being of the elderly remained paramount as such must be given the deserved attention, hence the consistent distribution of daily items to them.
She remarked that the only means by which such positive ideas could continue was to rally support for the present administration and to promote it through their participation in elections.
The Ekiti State First Lady who took time to educate the beneficiaries on their voting power itemized areas where her pet project had touched to include regular widows welfare, back to school programme, scholarship, empowerment of widows through Adire skill acquisition among others.
She asked those that have lost their voters cards or got damaged to go and register as the Independent National Electoral Commission would soon commence the process for replacement of the cards.
“There is also a need for you as elders in your community to propagate the good works of the present administration, going by various infrastructural projects going on across the state which are targeted at bringing relief to everyone”. The Governor’s wife added.
Contributing, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor’s wife on Political Matters, Mrs Toyin Adepoju urged the elderly citizens to seek the interest of the present administration by showing support that would ensure its continuity.
Mrs Adepoju noted that the aim of the regular distribution of the food items was to make sure that the gesture went round, so that no one would be left out.
She told the beneficiaries to register and collect their permanent voters cards as there are numerous advantages one could derive from obtaining it aside voting.
