Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for lifting the emergency rule imposed on Rivers State, describing the decision as a bold step that has restored democratic governance and renewed public confidence.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike said the President’s intervention demonstrated his unwavering commitment to peace, stability, and the protection of democratic values across Nigeria.
According to him, President Tinubu’s proactive leadership “saved Rivers State” and reassured its people of his dedication to national unity and development.
The FCT Minister further praised Rivers people for their continuous support for the President, urging all stakeholders in the state to put aside differences and work together in the collective interest of peace and progress.
Wike, however, cautioned against attempts by political opportunists and “fifth columnists” to exploit crises for selfish gain, stressing that the future of the state must be anchored on stability and cooperation.
“From Rivers State going forward, the only news that will emanate will be that of peace, progress, and development,” he declared.
