Speaking on the challenges of water, Prof Aluko said
Water is not evenly distributed across the world ; and yet all human beings need water; to ensure that everybody who needs water for personal or industrial use gets it. “If there is water burden somewhere and there are people who need it, you have to pump from where it’s excess to where it’s needed and must be treated .
Pumping of water, treatment and security challenges required huge amounts of money . The commissioner while proffering solutions to inadequate water supply, he said the community needs to take inventory of all the water sources in their communities and the people that use the water including industries and institutions around them for proper usage and maintenance..
He added that the Ekiti state government had spent huge amounts of money to ensure residents of the state have access to portable water, however said power supply had been the major challenge but optimistic that government would surmount the challenge via Independent Power Project Service(IPPS)
Early in the morning the ministry embarked on a sensitization walk from Fajuyi park through Oke-iyinmi, Ojumose and Okesa on the need to preserve water and stop wasting it .
