The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, has congratulated the former First Lady of Ekiti State, Erelu Bisi Fayemi on her 62nd birthday; describing her as a special gift to humanity.
In a statement co-signed by the chairman of the Council, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi and the Secretary, Comrade O’Seun Ogunsakin, the Union said Mrs Fayemi’s selfless service to humanity, particularly in promoting women’s rights and empowerment, has left an indelible mark on the society.
The Union praised the former First Lady for her tireless advocacy and philanthropic efforts which have inspired countless individuals and organizations.
The umbrella body for journalists in the State said it was incontrovertible that Mrs Fayemi championed initiatives that transformed the lives of women, children, and the less privileged both during her time as First Lady and in her private advocacy organization.
It noted that her commitment to social justice and equality remains a reference point across the African continent.
“Today, we celebrate the life of a remarkable individual, Erelu Bisi Fayemi who has impacted the lives of several people across the globe. The NUJ in Ekiti State sees her as a special gift to humanity. Her contributions to our Union, particularly in building our Hall which now houses the International Institute of Journalism, cannot be forgotten. As she celebrates her 62nd birthday, we join millions of Nigerians and well-wishers around the world to honor her dedication to humanity”, the Union said
