Crest View International School, Lagos, came alive with celebration on Monday, 24th November, young writer Adewole Temijopelo launched her debut book, “The Struggles of a Girl”, a compelling narrative centered on courage, resilience, kindness, and the triumph of determination over adversity. The event, which coincided with the author’s birthday, attracted education stakeholders, literary enthusiasts, dignitaries, and proud family members.
The ceremony opened with a heartfelt prayer by Mrs. Ehirim, setting an atmosphere of gratitude and expectation. The official book launch was performed by Hon. Ayo Adegbite, represented by Tayo Abolarinwa, a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly representing Ado Constituency 1.
Chairman of the occasion, Chief Abiodun Oniyitan, lauded the young author’s creativity, describing the work as “a powerful reminder that our circumstances do not define us, but rather our determination and resilience.”
A series of reviews by seasoned professionals highlighted the book’s depth and literary promise.
Adeife Abiodun-Adeyemi, CEO of Ife’ctive Touch, reviewed chapters 1–3, describing Temijopelo’s writing as “fresh, vibrant, and engaging,” noting how seamlessly young readers can relate to the protagonist, Blessing.
Coralita Yard, CEO of Kovana, who reviewed chapters 4–5, remarked, “If Nigeria has 10 of this girl, youngest Author, Africa will be great again.”
Tony Joy, Founder of the Durian Foundation, reviewed chapters 6–10, applauding the book’s emphasis on forgiveness, healing, and lessons drawn from everyday life.
The event also featured an exciting inter-class debate in which Adekunle Jemima emerged as the Best Speaker, with Amarachi Amechi as the runner-up. Other participants, including Abigail and Abigail, received cash prizes presented by Engineer Ehirim. Commending their performance, Nnamdi Ehirim said the students’ brilliance reflected Crest View International School’s commitment to nurturing excellence.
The school’s technical team, led by Uncle Sam, ensured top-notch coordination of the projector and audiovisual systems, contributing to the event’s smooth execution.
Proprietress of Crest View International School, Mrs. Adekunle, expressed pride in Temijopelo’s accomplishment, affirming that the achievement would inspire other pupils to strive for greatness. The young author gave a brief but engaging summary of her book, which tells the story of a girl from a poor family who conquers life’s challenges, ultimately employing her friend Farida despite their difficult past.
Several dignitaries graced the launch, including the Otunba Bobakeye of Agura Kingdom, Mrs. Jude, Mrs. Esther O, the author’s grandparents, Tayo Adewole and Bolu Tyson, as well as educators, parents, and members of the school community. Mrs. Jude commended Temijopelo’s hard work, while her educator, Mrs. Mazogi Nwakugo, described her as “amenable and teachable.”
The Head Teacher, Mr. Gbadebo, as well as the class educator, conveyed their congratulations to the proud parents. The event was anchored by the school’s English educator, who served as MC and kept the audience fully engaged.
The launch of “The Struggles of a Girl” marks a significant milestone for young Temijopelo, whose remarkable achievement has earned her admiration and positioned her as an emerging voice in literature.
