The immediate past Commissioner for Youth Development in Ekiti State, Mr Gold Adesola Adedayo, has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the June 20,2026 poll.
Adedayo said the victory further accentuated that Governor Oyebanji has done exceedingly well and had earned the respect and trust of party members, describing the victory as opportunity to consolidate democracy gains for the populace.
The former commissioner, said this in his congratulatory message on the ratification of Oyebanji’s candidacy by APC delegates in Ado Ekiti, on Monday.
Oyebanji, who was the sole candidate, following the disqualification of his arch opponent, Kayode Ojo and Mrs Olajumoke Adeniyi for not meeting party’s criteria and the withdrawal of Mrs Atinuke Omolayo, had his candidacy affirmed by 885 delegates that participated in the Congress.

Felicitating the governor on the resounding victory, Adedayo stated all the noise and hoopla being made by opponents that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was opposed to Oyebanji’s second term bid, had been laid to rest.
Adedayo expressed elation that the members of the party were unanimous in rewarding the hardwork, sacrifice and humility demonstrated by Oyebanji in his service to the state.
The former commissioner, appealed to those who were opposed to the governor’s reelection to accept his olive branch and display loyalty to APC, by working with the party to win the June 20,2026 election.
“Let me rejoice with Governor Biodun Oyebanji and our First Lady, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, on his victory at the governorship primary conducted by the APC ahead of 2026 poll.
“I am indeed elated because the victory was made easier by coming through affirmation. This was a reward for his sacrifice, excellent delivery, humility and prudent management of the state’s resources.
“It is heartwarming that Governor Oyebanji has etched his name in gold by performing creditably well through prompt payment of salary, pension and gratuity. In fact, about N14.6 billion has been paid as gratuity in three years and a sum of N25 billion expended on payment of pension.
“Just recently, Governor Oyebanji commissioned a N1.7 billion revenue house, 17.85 kilometres Ring Road Phase 1 in Ado Ekiti, general hospitals and built several health centres to offer quality healthcare delivery to our people.
“Now that he has emerged, all hands must be on the plough for him to have easy ride in the coming poll. As ruling party, we must rise above pedestrianism and display maturity, sportsmanship and civility, by being solidly loyal to APC and defend its stronghold through aggressive mobilisation for votes”.
Adedayo congratulated all Ekiti people on this accomplishment, believing that their prayers have been answered for Oyebanji will now have the opportunity to deliver more democracy gains to them by having a second term after winning next year’s election.
